Down The Rabbit Hole... A Poem!

Alice was a little girl
Who often felt alone.
Who cried herself to sleep at night
And never felt at home

Alice was a little girl
Whose mother just would not care
Who was never good enough for her
And invisible to that boys stare

Alice was a little girl
Who moved across the state
Who had never been so happy
And loved her new blank slate

Alice was a little girl
Who went to stay with Gran
Who was asked to come and party
Which is where it all began!

Alice was a little girl
Who was spiked with LSD
Who tripped out without knowing
And swore she’d never be.

Alice was a little girl
Who shortly went back home
Who got a little curious
And that scared her to the bone

Alice was a little girl
Who met a girl named Chris
Who gave her pills and things to smoke
And a new boy to kiss.

Alice was a little girl
Who thought she loved the boy
Who’d do anything for him
Though she was just his toy

Alice was a little girl
Who sold “ups” to little kids
Who was left all torn and tattered
And hurt by things he did

Alice was a little girl
Who ran away with Chris
Who was drugged and raped and beaten
And who’s life had gone amiss

Alice was a little girl
Who found her way back home
Who promptly ran away again
One last trip and she was gone

Alice was a little girl
Who didn’t know the date
Who gradually lost her mind
And knew no love, just hate

Alice was a little girl
Who just wanted her mum
Who walked right across her county
And confessed that she’d been dumb

Alice was a little girl
Who tried hard to get clean
Whose sanity would slip away
And show her things unseen

Alice was a little girl
Whose “friends” wanted her back
Who was spike again with LSD
And sent to see a “quack”

Alice was a little girl
Who got sent far away
Who didn’t like the “funny house”
And swore she was okay

Alice was a little girl
Who saw a little hope
Who got her life right back on track
And thought that she could cope

Alice was a little girl
Who’d just turned seventeen
Who had been to hell and beck
And everywhere in between

Alice was a little girl
Who grew up way too fast
Who never really saw the light
Such a life could never last

Alice died a little girl
And no one quite knows why
One day she was happy
By the next she’d said goodbye

Alice was a little girl
Who fell down the rabbit hole
But she didn't find her wonderland
Just morbid resolve.
